In conjunction with the Pendleton Fall Harvest Festival (October 9th) there is a scarecrow contest throughout Pendleton.
Every creation will have a sign with the name of the scarecrow (Tattie-bogle) and its creator(s).
There are different categories: Business, School, Individual, Church/Group, and Masters. The Masters category has a theme each year that it must adhere to, the other categories can use the theme if they wish. This year, the theme is “A salute to our Sister City – Stornoway, Scotland”. (In Scotland, a scarecrow is a Tattie-bogle.)
All categories are “Peoples Choice” for the best in the category, except for the Masters. This year, the voting will be done in-person only during the Fall Harvest Festival. Be sure to seek out the Scarecrow Contest booth and place your votes.
The winner of the Masters will be determined by a panel of anonymous judges.
Prizes are also awarded for Tallest and Most Populated, regardless of the category they were entered in.
All participants must submit an application by September 17 at 4:00 PM to be eligible for the contest.
*Any updated information will be added as it is received.
